The Derivative Sounds Of... Or... A Dog Always Returns To Its Vomit is the genre-bending sixth LP from prolific Australian solo project Alien Nosejob (Jake Robertson). Released in 2023, this album is a deliberate "return to roots," specifically channeling the jangle and fuzz of 1960s Garage Rock and Psychedelic Pop, alongside a strong "Paisley Underground" post-punk influence. Despite the throwback vibes, Robertson's signature tight, punky energy and often surreal, witty lyrics keep the sound fresh. It's a high-quality, melodic rock record for fans who enjoy their nostalgia delivered with sharp intellect and raw, lo-fi charm.
