Songs of Love and Hate is the powerful fourth studio album from legendary British Industrial Metal pioneers, Godflesh. Released in 1996, this cassette documents a significant stylistic pivot for the band, where Justin Broadrick (formerly of Napalm Death) deliberately replaced their signature programmed drumming with live percussion, delivered by drummer Bryan "Brain" Mantia (later of Primus). The result is a more human, rhythmic, and visceral sound, retaining their heavy industrial core but adding a dynamic, groove-heavy feel. It's a dark, introspective, and punishing journey into the heart of industrial metal.
